Commencing business in 1987 Graeme Stephens started the company that Firstly specialised in cleaning up the heavily stained carpets and upholstery inside newly imported Japanese vehicles, which were particularly soiled due to years of Japanese air pollution, using portable steam extraction units. The very best in knowledge and cleaning solutions were required for this kind of restoration cleaning |
| 1991 |
Graeme started getting serious about the business, working increasingly long Hours, eventually hiring additional staff, (including Mary whom would later marry Graeme.)
A second mortgage loan was made to purchase bigger and better equipment. This was necessary to handle the growing demand. At this stage portable steam extraction and dry chem cleaning options were now available to clients and from this time onwards at least an extra van and equipment was put on the road each year to handle growth and demand. |
| 1995 |
We purchased our first “Truck-mounted” machine and clients were being amazed with the quality of the better carpet cleans. All our cleaning solutions were now the best available based on international research. |
| 1996 |
With the help of a Canadian specialist and engineers, we started improving and manufacturing the “Truck-mounted” carpet cleaner machines.
By this time due to popular demand the company was manufacturing, employing, and putting an extra “Truck-mounted” carpet cleaning van on the road each year. |
| 1999 |
We purchased and moved into bigger and better factory premises, which we currently operate from at our headquarters: 12 Culperry Road,Glendene, Auckland, Thus making the manufacturing of “Truck-mounted” machines easier. |
| 2000 |
We video recorded detailed training tapes on each of our specialised services and a better company-training manual was made. Graeme wrote a 200 page carpet cleaners manual Mass flooding in Auckland on the 30th June resulted in the NZ Herald asking Graeme Stephens for an interview regarding the crises, which appeared in the New Zealand Herald’s front page. |
| 2004 |
Early in the year, hired a computer software developer who started developing a customised complete computerised administration system for stream lining booking processes and detailed reports. We started servicing in the Waikato region on RT contact. |
| 2005 |
We commenced servicing in the Bay of Plenty region on RT contact. To provide a better service to our nationwide key clients a decision was made to expand throughout New Zealand. |
| 2006 |
To expand throughout New Zealand without extending our cash flow a decision was made to prepare for creating carpet cleaning franchise partnership for areas throughout New Zealand and share our specialized carpet & upholstery cleaning industry knowledge service and exclusive equipment.
2 Large trucks were purchased in preparation for better mobility of equipment and mass flooding carpet etc.
Due to popular demand in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty - We commenced servicing the Wellington/Palmerston North region also. Our carpet servicing software development is now completed Graeme and Mary have now basically developed the company, ready for franchising expanding into areas that we do not yet service. |
